Map-it CCU investigates where and how carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) offers opportunities in Flemish industry, with the aim of exploring concrete and practical applications for companies.

How is Map-it CCU structured?

Map-it CCU is a VLAIO intercluster COOCK+ project, coordinated by CAPTURE and VITO, with support from Catalisti, Flux50 and Flanders’ Food. A COOCK+ project (Collective Research & Development and Collective Knowledge Dissemination) is supported by the Flemish government and brings practical innovations to companies more quickly through collaboration between sectors.

Smart Delta Resources Flanders played a key role in the project.

Smart Delta Resources Flanders played a central role in the success of the Map-it CCU project. Thanks to the active involvement of our industrial network, the project could be rolled out more widely, with a greater impact in Flanders and beyond. By bringing together companies from different sectors, not only was knowledge shared, but cooperation was also stimulated around concrete applications of CCU technologies.

Our contribution ensured that the tools developed, such as the knowledge matrix, the decision model and the MOOC, are better aligned with the needs of industry.

Who is this project for?

Map-it CCU focuses on various target groups that play a key role in the transition to a climate-friendly industry in Flanders. The project offers targeted support and useful tools for:

  • Policy makers who want to align regulations with technological reality.
  • Industrial companies (large and small) that want to reduce their CO₂ emissions.
  • Researchers and knowledge institutions that develop and test technologies.

What are the deliverables of the project?

  • A knowledge matrix: compiles and structures knowledge about CCU technologies and value chains.
  • A decision model: assists companies in making strategic choices regarding CO₂ capture, reuse and storage.
  • A MOOC (online course): offers free training courses on CCU technologies.
