Energiecrisis en stikstofeisen hebben forse impact op de industrie in de Schelde-Deltaregio

De industrie is één van de belangrijkste motoren achter de economie en zorgt voor bedrijvigheid en werkgelegenheid. Dat geldt ook voor het industriecluster in de Schelde-Deltaregio. Dit krachtige cluster met toonaangevende bedrijven uit o.a. chemie, staal, energie en food is sterk verbonden met het grensoverschrijdende havengebied van North Sea Port en geldt, met een gezamenlijke toegevoegde waarde €12,5 miljard en 100.000 arbeidsplaatsen als belangrijke economische motor voor de regio. Daarnaast is ook de rol in de industriële verduurzaming groot, immers meer dan 40 concrete projecten leveren in 2030 ruim een kwart van de nationale CO2-reductiedoelstelling van de industrie.

De huidige crises op het vlak van energie en stikstof hebben echter een forse impact op het cluster. Smart Delta Resources heeft deze impact geduid middels een brief naar de betrokken bewindslieden in Den Haag en heeft hierbij bovendien enkele aanbevelingen op het gebied van beleid en regelgeving gedaan.
